Isaiah 30:15(Message Bible)
”God, the Master, The Holy of Israel,
has this solemn counsel: “Your salvation requires you to turn back to me and
stop your silly efforts to save yourselves. Your strength will come from
settling down in complete dependence on me. The very thing you’ve been
unwilling to do”
The Message Bible version of Isaiah
30:15, states beautifully, a timeless recipe for enjoying the best of God’s
grace. It is total dependence on the abilities of God instead of our limited
human strength.
Total dependence on God, is not a
passive position of laziness. Rather, it is trusting in the abilities of God,
to give you results beyond your human skills and depending on God’s strength to
influence the outcome of your work, instead of your skills alone.
Samuel reechoed the words of Isaiah
in 1 Samuel 2:9, saying “…a man does not triumph by his own strength” (Good
news Bible). This implies that human abilities is a limited source of strength
compared to the grace of God. Strangely, in spite of this obvious fact, you and
I still face the daily temptation of trusting in our human abilities. The bible
describes such actions as “silly efforts” to save yourself.
However, depending on the grace of
God does not exclude you from being diligent in your work. Instead, grace
empowers you to be diligent. It makes you settle on the finished work of Christ
as the basis for your success. To receive the strength of God, you must put an
end to trying to figure out things. Worrying and anxiety distract your heart
from receiving from the flow of grace.
Beloved, you must believe in the
sufficiency of God’s strength. That means you must accept that grace is sufficient
to cater for all your righteous needs. The pressure from the problems in your
marriage or business or even your academic is not greater than the power of
God. Grace can only be experienced at the point of rest. So take God at His
word, He cannot lie.
Food for thought: “…by strength shall no man prevail”(1 Sam. 2:9).
“Thus saith the Lord; cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh
his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord”(Jere. 17:5).
SEE YOU AT THE TOP!!!
My hope is in the name of the Lord!
